Here Come the Holidays!!

Happy Thanksgiving week! Can you believe that the holidays are around the corner? Ten minutes ago it was the summer and now I'm seeing reports of snow on the nightly news. (It's raining in Seattle, of course, but that's hardly news).

What have I gotten done? Hmmm...let's see. Almost nothing. No gifts purchased, no turkey ordered, no wrapping paper stored in my laundry room, no boxes of decorations dragged down from the attic. Why?

To be honest, I've been consumed with my latest book. After more than two years of hard work and research, I can finally tell you about it! You all have been so supportive of my books and I want you to know how much I appreciate it. I hope you all love The Nightingale as much as I do. It is my twenty-second book, and my hands-down favorite so far.

Sometimes a story sneaks up on you, hits you hard and dares you to look away. That was the case with The Nightingale. In truth, I did everything I could not to write this novel. But when research on World War II led me to the story of a young Belgian woman who had created an escape route out of Nazi-Occupied France, I was hooked. Her story --- one of heroism and danger and unbridled courage --- became the starting point. I simply couldn't turn away. I had to keep digging, discovering, reading, and that story led me to others that were equally fascinating. Stories about women who had saved Jewish children and rescued downed airmen and put themselves in harm's way to save others. Women who had paid terrible, unimaginable prices for their heroism.

Their stories were impossible to ignore. I found myself consumed with a single, haunting question, as relevant today as it was seventy years ago: When would I, as a wife and mother, risk my life --- and more importantly, my child's life --- to save a stranger?

In war, women's stories are all too often forgotten or overlooked. Women tend to come home from the battlefield and say nothing and go on with their lives. The Nightingale is a novel about those women and the daring, dangerous choices they made to save their children and their way of life.

One other new thing to share ---- my website, which has be redesigned to celebrate The Nightingale. There's lots to explore. Click here to see a video of me talking about my inspiration for The Nightingale. Click here to see some photos from my research in France. My book tour dates are still coming together. Keep an eye on the tour page of my website to see where I'll be headed!

Things are going to get crazier and busier for us all in the next few weeks, so I am sending you good thoughts at this very special time of year. And if you have a really awesome Thanksgiving recipe --- I'm looking for one.

Come on over to Facebook and join me. I love hearing from readers. Or if you are not on Facebook, drop me a line here.

Happy reading,
Kristin

More About The Nightingale

In love we find out who we want to be.
In war we find out who we are.

FRANCE, 1939

In the quiet village of Carriveau, Vianne Mauriac says goodbye to her husband, Antoine, as he heads for the Front. She doesn't believe that the Nazis will invade France...but invade they do, in droves of marching soldiers, in caravans of trucks and tanks, in planes that fill the skies and drop bombs upon the innocent. When a German captain requisitions Vianne's home, she and her daughter must live with the enemy or lose everything. Without food or money or hope, as danger escalates all around them, she is forced to make one impossible choice after another to keep her family alive.

Vianne's sister, Isabelle, is a rebellious eighteen-year-old girl, searching for purpose with all the reckless passion of youth. While thousands of Parisians march into the unknown terrors of war, she meets Gaetan, a partisan who believes the French can fight the Nazis from within France, and she falls in love as only the young can...completely. But when he betrays her, Isabelle joins the Resistance and never looks back, risking her life time and again to save others.

With courage, grace and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of WWII and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France--a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Early Praise for The Nightingale

"I loved Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale. She has captured a particular slice of French life during World War II with wonderful details and drama. But what I loved most was the relationship between two sisters and Hannah's exploration of what we do in moments of great challenge."
- Lisa See, author of New York Times bestseller Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

"In this epic novel, set in France in World War II, two sisters who live in a small village find themselves estranged when they disagree about the imminent threat of occupation. Separated by principles and temperament, each must find her own way forward as she faces moral questions and life-or-death choices. Haunting, action-packed, and compelling."
- Christina Baker Kline, author of Orphan Train

"The Nightingale is a beautifully written and richly evocative examination of life, love, and the ravages of war, and the different ways people react to unthinkable situations--not to mention the terrible and mounting toll of keeping secrets. This powerhouse of a story is equally packed with action and emotion, and is sure to be another major hit. I loved it!"
- Sara Gruen, author of Water for Elephants

FLY AWAY On Sale Today!

My latest book, FLY AWAY is on sale today --- FINALLY!

I know many of you have been waiting for the follow up to FIREFLY LANE since it was published in 2008. Right after that book came out I started getting letters from readers asking for more about these beloved characters. I appreciate your patience as I wrote four other books while mulling the new story for Tully and Kate.

As I have said before this was a really hard book to write. I have never done a follow up book and knowing your love of these two women I wanted to be sure that I delivered a story that honored that. I truly have been blown away by your support of Kate and Tully and the world I created on FIREFLY LANE.

In case you have not seen it yet, here is a blog post with a little behind the scenes scoop on FLY AWAY.

Today I am in New York to kick off my book tour (which meant a couple of days of packing and primping last week). For those of you who will be in the cities I visit (tour dates below), know that I can't wait to meet you and talk about the book.

As I cannot visit everywhere that I would like to be, especially if you want another book from me next year, I created a video scrapbook for FLY AWAY in which I'll tell you a little bit about the story and Tully and Kate and yes, how their world might have some inspiration from mine.

As always, I love to hear from my readers. Stop my Facebook page or drop a note on my blog here and let me know what you think.

Thank you for reading...it means so much to me!

Kristin

Once, a long time ago, I walked down a night-darkened road called Firefly Lane, all alone, on the worst night of my life, and I found a kindred spirit. That was our beginning. More than thirty years ago. Tully and Kate. You and me against the world. Best friends forever. But stories end, don't they? You lose the people you love and you have to find a way to go on...

Tully Hart has always been larger than life, a woman fueled by big dreams and driven by memories of a painful past. She thinks she can overcome anything until her best friend, Kate Ryan, dies. Tully tries to fulfill her deathbed promise to Kate --- to be there for Kate's children --- but Tully knows nothing about family or motherhood or taking care of people.

Sixteen-year-old Marah Ryan is devastated by her mother's death. Her father, Johnny, strives to hold the family together, but even with his best efforts, Marah becomes unreachable in her grief. Nothing and no one seems to matter to her . . . until she falls in love with a young man who makes her smile again and leads her into his dangerous, shadowy world.

Dorothy Hart --- the woman who once called herself Cloud --- is at the center of Tully's tragic past. She repeatedly abandoned her daughter, Tully, as a child, but now she comes back, drawn to her daughter's side at a time when Tully is most alone. At long last, Dorothy must face her darkest fear: Only by revealing the ugly secrets of her past can she hope to become the mother her daughter needs.

A single, tragic choice and a middle-of-the-night phone call will bring these women together and set them on a poignant, powerful journey of redemption. Each has lost her way, and they will need each one another --- and maybe a miracle --- to transform their lives.

An emotionally complex, heart-wrenching novel about love, motherhood, loss, and new beginnings, Fly Away reminds us that where there is life, there is hope, and where there is love, there is forgiveness.

HOME FRONT Book Trailer Discussion with Chief Warrant Office 5 Teresa Burgess
Hello, Readers!

Yay, HOME FRONT is finally on sale! I know many of you have been waiting as impatiently as I have. :) To celebrate, my publisher has released this fantastic trailer for the book (or click the image at the top left). If you want to order your copy of HOME FRONT, simply click here...

I honestly think HOME FRONT is the most emotional book I've ever written. Jolene was an amazing character to write. A heroine in every sense of the word. It's a book that explores big emotions and big themes: love, honor, duty, commitment, marriage, and sacrifice. It took a lot of research to do the military angle of the book, and it was a fascinating glimpse into that world.

Click here or the image at the top right for a video of me talking to Chief Warrant Office 5 Teresa Burgess, who really helped me to get the details right. She knows all about the cost of deployment on an ordinary family.

HOME FRONT is about doing your best and doing the right thing in the face of incredible odds. Want to know more? Read an excerpt and watch me talk about HOME FRONT by clicking here or the image below.

I really hope you love HOME FRONT as much as I do. Please let me know what you think on my Facebook page.

Hello and Happy New Year to Everyone!

After a wonderful, hectic holiday season, I am now back to work again. The endless round of parties and shopping and baking and wrapping has faded away, leaving the comfortable routine of ordinary life in its wake. As I'm sure is true for many of you, January is a busy month for me, and never more so than this year. For the first time in a long time --- well, for the first time ever actually --- I have two books out in the same month, and that makes for a lot of writing and blogging and traveling. Mostly, it makes for a lot of excitement.

Today my New York Times bestselling novel, NIGHT ROAD will finally be available in trade paperback. If my e-mails and Facebook page are any indication, I know a lot of you --- especially those of you who belong to book clubs --- have been waiting for this day for quite a while. I'm thrilled that you'll be able to get this book and talk about it with your friends. It's a novel that raises a lot of interesting, sensitive questions --- important questions --- and it should prompt some lively discussions. You'll find an extensive list of reader discussion questions in the back of the book, as well as some photographs and other fun stuff. NIGHT ROAD is also a great book for mother-daughter reading. I guarantee that it can spark an important conversation with a teen.

To get you or your book club started, here's a short video of me discussing some of the issues and themes in the novel. When you read the book --- or if you've already read it --- please join me on my Facebook page and let me know what you thought about it. I love hearing from readers. Also, here's a link to the Seattle Times "Best Books of 2011" list. I was honored to see NIGHT ROAD named among such stellar company.

And don't forget that I LOVE to talk to book clubs via speakerphone. If your club is discussing NIGHT ROAD, go to this page on my website to fill out a form to tell me more about your group. Hopefully we can coordinate a chat time. I'd love to call in to your group if my schedule permits.

I have been exceptionally grateful for the outpouring of reader support this year. Your comments and conversations on facebook are great! To thank you all, I am giving away a FREE downloadable short story called "The Glass Case." This is a limited opportunity --- available only for a little longer --- so I hope you'll find the time to download it soon. Included is a sneak peek at HOME FRONT, my next novel, which will be available in hardcover on January 31st.

I'll be sending out more information on HOME FRONT soon! I really can't wait to hear what you all think about it. This book has become very special to me, and I am excited to share it with you.

With Aloha,

Kristin

All marriages have a breaking point. All families have wounds. All wars have a cost…

Like many couples, Michael and Jolene have to face the pressures of everyday life—children, careers, bills, chores—even as their twelve year marriage is falling apart. Then an unexpected deployment sends Jolene deep into harm's way and leaves defense attorney Michael at home, unaccustomed to being a single parent to their two girls. As a mother, it agonizes Jolene to leave her family, but as a soldier she has always understood the true meaning of duty. In her letters home, she paints a rose-colored version of her life on the front lines, shielding her family from the truth. But war will change Jolene in ways that none of them could have foreseen. When tragedy strikes, Michael must face his darkest fear and fight a battle of his own--for everything that matters to his family.

At once a profoundly honest look at modern marriage and a dramatic exploration of the price of war on an ordinary American family, HOME FRONT is a story of love, loss, heroism, honor and ultimately, hope.

For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children's needs above her own, and it shows—her twins, Mia and Zach—are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia's best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.

Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm's way. It has always been easy-- until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time her kids leave the house, she worries about them.

On a hot summer's night her worst fears come true. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget…or the courage to forgive.

Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, Night Road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.

Happy Holidays

It's that time of year again, when in between all the cooking, juggling schedules, wrapping gifts and shopping for them, and decorating the house, we pause to remember what it all means. In those moments we think about all the people who enrich our lives. And I definitely include my readers in this gratitude moment. I can't begin to express how much I have appreciated all of your Facebook conversations, blog comments, and emails. Your support and enthusiasm this year was really remarkable.

Thanks also to all of you who have written in to ask about Night Road in paperback. I know that many of your book clubs have been waiting patiently for the book to be available in trade paperback, and it's finally almost here. January 3rd is the day, so mark it on your calendars. I know many of you finished the book and immediately picked up the phone to call a friend, and now that the book is in paperback, even more women will be able to read it and discuss the many issues raised in the novel. I love to hear what you think, so don't be shy, come on over to Facebook and let me know!

If January belongs to Night Road, then February is Home Front month. This novel has absolutely stolen my heart and I hope you'll agree that it is my best, most powerful novel to date. It is timely and provocative and emotional—a look at the price of deployment on a single American family. It's both a family drama and a love story. I know how busy you all are now, and February seems a long way off, but if you want to know a little bit about the book, check out my Facebook page.

And don't forget my thank-you-to-readers gift this year. I have "The Glass Case" available for a free download until February. With it, you'll get a sneak peek at Home Front. I hope you enjoy this heartwarming story.

Although I don't have a new book out this December, don't forget that in these difficult economic times, nothing makes a better, more lasting gift than a book. In my family we have a tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve, and it is always a book. The original idea was that if we kids were going to be up all night waiting for Santa we might as well be reading. :) It's a tradition I have enthusiastically passed on to my own son. I love giving him pieces of my own life— and that's how I feel about books. The Lord of the Rings will always remind me of the year I turned thirteen, for example. If you'd like some examples of favorite books, check out my blog. Someone will have the perfect recommendation for you, I promise.

I wish you all happiness, joy, and peace in this holiday season.

Kristin

Happy Veteran's Day

Every book I write, I learn something important, but it's rare that a book actually changes the way I think. HOME FRONT is a very special book for me in that way. In the past, I've tackled World War II Russia, teen drinking, DNA testing, and cancer. But researching and writing HOME FRONT, with its military theme, was a mammoth undertaking. I was a bit like Alice, falling down the rabbit hole, into a world where nothing was quite the way I imagined it. But what I saw and learned truly transformed me. I came away with a more profound and even deeper respect for our soldiers and their families, who sacrifice so much so that we all can live safely. It is the first of my own books that consistently brought me to tears. The emotions that come with the story of a deployed soldier are simply overwhelming. On this Veteran's Day, I'd like to offer my thanks to the troops and their families, and our veterans.

As a special Veteran's Day gift, I'm giving away a FREE downloadable short story, "The Glass Case." It is the story of April Bannerman, a young mother of three, married to her high school sweetheart and living in the same small town in which she grew up. Although she loves her children and husband, April is plagued by the growing doubt that she has not lived up to her mother's expectations for her--- until one day when something terrible and unexpected happens, and April must face the truth about her own life and discover what really matters.

Sharing this story for free is my way of saying thank you to my readers for their support over the past year. Inside, you'll find a very special preview of HOME FRONT, which will be published on January 31st. You can read more about HOME FRONT later in this newsletter. And for those of you who have not yet explored NIGHT ROAD, please note that that will be available in trade paperback on January 3rd; reading groups who have been reading it thus far have been sharing comments about their discussions with me. In a book group that always waits for the trade paperback? Then you may want to consider NIGHT ROAD for January!

I love to hear what you have to say about my work. I visit my Facebook page daily and read and respond to many of the comments . My writing schedule only affords me time to blog about once a month these days, but I enjoy seeing reader comments there as well. So if you close one of my books --- or finish reading "The Glass Case" --- think about jumping online to share your thoughts.

Take a moment on Veteran's Day to think about our troops. I will be back to you with another newsletter in early January, so here's wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season.

All my best,

Kristin

Greetings from Kristin

Hello and welcome from the rainy Pacific Northwest!

Thanks so much to all of you who have ventured over to my blog and facebook page. It has been fun in the past year getting to talk to so many of my readers. I've especially loved all the book clubs meetings that I've been able to join via speakerphone. After so many years of writing in solitude, it is absolutely fabulous to hear what you have to say.

And now, it's that time of year again. That's right -- I have a new book out. Night Road, like Firefly Lane, is a book that comes from my own life. It's about the best, worst, most stressful, most frustrating, most wonderful year of my life: my son's senior year of high school. I don't know about you, but I remember my own senior year as the best of times. Believe me, it's a whole lot different on the other side of the fence, when you're the parent, worrying constantly.

It's all very natural -- kids trying to test their wings and fly; parents trying to keep them safe. Senior year these days is a dangerous time of testing limits, parties that spring up in the dark like mushrooms, and kids who think they're invincible. That's the setting for Night Road -- the push/pull between parents and kids in that last, most important year of high school. I think you'll find a piece of your own life in there, whether you're a parent of small children, of high school students, or even if you're a teen, in the middle of a time you don't quite understand. Most of all, I hope the book sparks a dialogue between parents and kids about how to be safe in a dangerous world. I talked to the good folks at Barnes and Noble about the book. If you'd like to watch the interview, click here.

Keep reading to learn more about my tour schedule, a new contest, and how to request a book club chat with me.

Hope to see you on the road!

All my best,

Kristin

Night Road: In Hardcover March 22nd

"Hannah effectively builds tension as the novel moves towards the pivotal tragedy and maintains suspense afterward not only with several surprising twists but, more subtly, with the way she limns the grief and eventual healing of her appealing characters. A breakout for popular novelist Hannah."—Booklist

Nothing feels safe anymore; every time her kids leave the house, she worries about them... Continue reading.

10) NIGHT ROAD, my next book comes out in hardcover on March 22nd. I'll be sharing more about this on my website in January, but here's a quick look at what it's about:

For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children's needs above her own, and it shows-her twins, Mia and Zach-are bright and happy teenagers.

In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget...or the courage to forgive.

Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, NIGHT ROAD raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.

From the author of acclaimed national bestseller Firefly Lanecomes a haunting, heartbreakingly beautiful novel that illuminates the intricate mother-daughter bond and explores the enduring links between past and present.

Sometimes when you open the door to your mother's past, you find your own future...

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, these two estranged women will find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters. On his deathbed, their father extracts one last promise from the women in his life.

It begins with a story that is unlike anything the sisters have heard before-a captivating, mysterious love story that spans sixty-five years and moves from frozen, war torn Leningrad to modern-day Alaska. The vividly imagined tale brings these three women together in a way that none could have expected. Meredith and Nina will finally learn the secret of their mother's past and uncover a truth so terrible it will shake the foundation of their family and change who they think they are.

Every once in a while a writer comes along who navigates the complex and layered landscape of the human heart. For this generation, it's Kristin Hannah. Mesmerizing from the first page to the last, Winter Garden is an evocative, lyrically-written novel that will long be remembered.

Holiday Greetings from Kristin

Happy holidays--

It's that time of year again, when in between all the cooking, juggling schedules, wrapping gifts and shopping for them, and decorating the house, we pause to remember what it all means.  In those moments we think about all the people who enrich our lives.  And I definitely include my readers in this.  Thanks to all of you who have helped make 2008 such a memorable year for me.  I can't begin to express how much I have appreciated all of your letters, blog comments, and emails.  Your support and enthusiasm for Firefly Lane was really remarkable.  I can't answer all the emails I receive, but know that I read and treasure each one.

Thanks also to all of you who have written in to ask about Firefly Lane in paperback. I know that many of your book clubs have been waiting patiently for the book to be available in trade paperback, and it's finally almost here. I know many of you finished the book and immediately picked up the phone to call a friend, and now that the book is in paperback, even more women will be able to read it and remember how important friendship is. January 6th is the day, so mark it on your calendars.

If January belongs to
Firefly Lane, then February is True Colors month. This novel definitely does for sisterhood what Firefly Lane did for friendship.  I know how busy you all are now, and February seems a long way off, but if you want to know a little bit about the book, check out my website.

And if you want to go to the head of the line, check out the True Colors contest. You can be one of the very first readers of this book and post your comments online. I can't wait to hear what you all think. In other contest news (and this is very hush hush, so I'm only telling my readers), Hallmark magazine is doing a big, national contest directed at book clubs who read Firefly Lane. (Don't you love Hallmark???) Anyway, keep your eye on the site for news as it becomes available. Check in often and enter to win. There's nothing I like more than hearing from readers and book clubs, so don't be shy.

I love giving him pieces of my own life--and that's how I feel about books. The Lord of the Rings will always remind me of the year I turned thirteen, for example. If you'd like some examples of favorite books, check out my blog. Someone will have the perfect recommendation for you, I promise.

I wish you all happiness, joy, and peace in this holiday season.

About the Books

Greetings from Kristin

Dear Readers:

The big news this month is the upcoming February release of my new book, True Colors.

Last year, women across America laughed, cried, and reconnected with their friends after reading Firefly Lane, and I was happy to hear from so many of you that the book made you pick up the phone and call your best friend when you finished reading. Now, I hope you'll follow along with me on a new road. This time I'm exploring another profound relationship in women's lives: sisterhood. True Colors is a poignant, powerful story about sisters, betrayal, rivalry, forgiveness, redemption, and what it really means to be a family. It is my greatest hope that once you've read it, you'll want to call your sister and tell her how much she means to you.

It's early yet -- the book won't be out until February 3rd, but here's a little sneak peek into the story: Set on a horse ranch in Western Washington, True Colors is about three sisters whose lives were shaped by the loss of their mother when they were young. Raised by a distant, disapproving father, they banded together and became best friends. There's Winona, who has spent a lifetime struggling with her weight and trying desperately to gain her father's approval...and Aurora, the middle child, who is the family peacekeeper and wants everyone to be happy, even as she hides her own secret pain...and Vivi Ann, the beautiful, romantic dreamer, for whom everything seems to come easily, her father's love most of all, until a stranger comes to town. When Vivi Ann makes a fateful decision to follow her heart, rather than the course of a dutiful daughter, events are set in motion that will change everything for the Greys. A shocking crime will shatter both the once close family and the town in which they live. It's a story about how easily a family can be broken, and how hard it can sometimes be to put the pieces back together, and ultimately about how deceiving appearances can be. With a breakneck pace and penetrating emotional insight, I really hope it's a book you won't be able to put down...or forget.

Until then, I hope you'll stick around and join my blog conversation. We have a great group of women over there who never fail to inspire and entertain. I'm taking a once-in-a-lifetime vacation this October, but in November, I'll be on track and back to blogging. I hope you'll take a few minutes to stop by and say hi. And if you'd like to get a signed copy of any of my books, please contact Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo, Washington.

One of the best new discoveries of this last year for me has been book clubs. I have been incredibly fortunate to speak with dozens of readers' groups by phone over the last few months, and I can honestly say that each one has been a treat. So if you belong to a book club, and would like to consider Firefly Lane, please see the book club details on this site about how to schedule a talk with me. I will do my very best to talk to all the groups I can.

So, thanks again for all the support for Firefly Lane last year. I look forward to hearing what you think about True Colors.

Aloha,

Kristin Hannah

About the Books

For Book Clubs

Greetings from Kristin

Dear Readers:

Thanks so much to all of you who helped make Firefly Lane such a remarkable success this year.  2008 will definitely go down in the record books as a memorable time for me -- the launch of my new website, the publication of Firefly Lane, which was on the New York Times bestseller list for eight weeks, and of course, my surprising transition into one of those people who blog. And like it.  :)  I hope you'll join in the blog conversation and find out all the news that's fit to print.  I am stunned to realize how much I enjoy connecting with readers and book clubs, so please, don't be shy: chime in and hit send! I love reading what you have to say.

For those of you who want to read more of my work (and bless your hearts), please check out my printable book list and enjoy!  And if you would like to get a signed copy of any of my books, please contact Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo, Washington.  For a photo of my last signing at that store, check out my blog.

Thanks to everyone who entered The Best Friends Contest. I loved reading the stories that were shared. You all can read them here on the site.  But I warn you: bring a tissue.  These letters can have you laughing one minute and crying the next.  And start sharpening your pencils for the next contest.  More about that soon...

I've been fortunate recently to join a number of book clubs who are discussing my work.  And what a hoot it is!  I love meeting the women who read my novels...and more than a few of them seem to be living my life as well.  So, if you belong to a book club, why not think about reading Firefly Lane?  If my time permits, I'd love to speak to your group by phone during the discussion meeting.  See details on how to get your group scheduled to talk to me. May I suggest you gather a group of friends -- old and new -- to get together and talk about it with you wherever you are summering this year? I can picture you in beach chairs at the water's edge chatting about friendship. If you do, send me a picture.

And for those of you who have already read the Firefly Lane, here's a little treat.  I've included some material that didn't make the final copy of the book.  Click here to see how Tully and Kate kept in touch when they weren't together.

Also, I'm gearing up for the new book, scheduled to be released in February.  True Colors is the most romantic, most compelling book I've written in years.  If you liked Firefly Lane, I know you'll enjoy it.  More to come on that soon,  including a contest for some advance reading copies.  Keep an eye out...

Aloha,

Kristin Hannah
