|About the Books|
Holiday Greetings from Kristin
It’s that time of year again, when in between all the cooking, juggling schedules, wrapping gifts and shopping for them, and decorating the house, we pause to remember what it all means. In those moments we think about all the people who enrich our lives. And I definitely include my readers in this. Thanks to all of you who have helped make 2008 such a memorable year for me. I can’t begin to express how much I have appreciated all of your letters, blog comments, and emails. Your support and enthusiasm for Firefly Lane was really remarkable. I can’t answer all the emails I receive, but know that I read and treasure each one.
Thanks also to all of you who have written in to ask about Firefly Lane in paperback. I know that many of your book clubs have been waiting patiently for the book to be available in trade paperback, and it’s finally almost here. I know many of you finished the book and immediately picked up the phone to call a friend, and now that the book is in paperback, even more women will be able to read it and remember how important friendship is. January 6th is the day, so mark it on your calendars.
If January belongs to Firefly Lane, then February is True Colors month. This novel definitely does for sisterhood what Firefly Lane did for friendship. I know how busy you all are now, and February seems a long way off, but if you want to know a little bit about the book, check out my website.
And if you want to go to the head of the line, check out the True Colors contest. You can be one of the very first readers of this book and post your comments online. I can’t wait to hear what you all think. In other contest news (and this is very hush hush, so I’m only telling my readers), Hallmark magazine is doing a big, national contest directed at book clubs who read Firefly Lane. (Don’t you love Hallmark???) Anyway, keep your eye on the site for news as it becomes available. Check in often and enter to win. There’s nothing I like more than hearing from readers and book clubs, so don’t be shy.
Although I don’t have a new book out this December, don’t forget that in these difficult economic times, nothing makes a better, more lasting gift than a book. In my family we have a tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve, and it is always a book. The original idea was that if we kids were going to be up all night waiting for Santa we might as well be reading. 🙂 It’s a tradition I have enthusiastically passed on to my own son. I love giving him pieces of my own life–and that’s how I feel about books. The Lord of the Rings will always remind me of the year I turned thirteen, for example. If you’d like some examples of favorite books, check out my blog. Someone will have the perfect recommendation for you, I promise.
I wish you all happiness, joy, and peace in this holiday season.
PS: The photo I’ve included is one of Ben, me, my dad and his wife, Debbie, at Victoria Falls. The trip of a lifetime…
Coming February 2009: True Colors
True Colors is New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah’s most provocative, compelling, and heart-wrenching story yet. With the luminous writing and unforgettable characters that are her trademarks, she tells the story of three sisters whose once-solid world is broken apart by jealousy, betrayal, and the kind of passion that rarely comes along.
